Time of Sugar beet pulp

When the sugar beet harvest begins, the sugar factories also start processing. The production of sugar requires a lot of energy, which is currently an important issue. Many sugar factories refrain from drying the spent beet pulp, which is a represents valuable cattle feed. Ensiled in the bags, the sugar beet pulp can be feed all year.

A new way we found in Spain. Some sugar factories store the entire production of sugar beet pulp in bags in order to dry them in the sun in summer time. In one factory, 120,000 tons of sugar beet pulp are ensiled in 12-foot bags. Up to 1.100ton are stored in a 150m plastic bag.

The saving of natural gas is huge and shows big the potential of the bagging systems.
